Gluten-Free & Vegan Options

In a nutshell, an Endometriosis diet consists of eating plenty of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Plant-based proteins, lean meats, and healthful fats are also believed to help in managing symptoms. Endometriosis diet also encourages reducing caffeine and alcohol intake, as these can increase estrogen levels.

Increasing fiber intake is also advised in this diet as fiber is an essential part of a healthful diet and may help to lower estrogen levels. In addition to providing lots of vitamins and minerals, eating fresh sources of fiber can also provide vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that can reduce inflammation.

Throughout my years of experimenting with dietary plans, be it for pageantry (was a fitness & figure competitor) or for personal achievement, I noticed soy, pineapple, cabbage, Brussel sprouts, broccoli (and all its’ family), and garlic would trigger #endobelly (The term “endo belly” or “endo bloat” describes the painful and often severe abdominal bloating associated with Endometriosis) and these supposed nutrition-dense choices are part of what Endometriosis diet entails. After much research, I found my ‘sweet spot’, and it leaned towards the 'Low FODMAPs Diet’.

The point I am trying to put across is that while there are tons of dietary plans out there, they are all just guidelines for us to eventually learn and find what works for our bodies. Do not be confused. Start from the basics (understanding macronutrients and micronutrients) and slowly work your way in finding your ‘sweet spot’. I find having a food journal a major help and I would encourage you to start using one too (check out MyFitnessPal).

With festivities lined up for the year 2022, I am certain many of us who are on a dietary plan that focuses on gluten-free & vegan food would be scouring for local listings. To ease your search, I have listed below (in alphabetical order) some of my findings and categorized them accordingly:
