So far, it has been an eventful end to 2021 and a promising start to the year 2022!
While nothing is set in stone, it is comforting to know that Endometriosis awareness is finally reaching the radar of government-owned corporations.
Recently, I knocked on the doors of our members of parliaments and was greeted warmly. I had the opportunity to speak with two laureled women political leaders; Ms. Rahayu; Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Communications and Information & Ministry of Health & Ms. Carrie Huimin Tan; a member of the governing People's Action Party (PAP), who oversees the partnership engagements at Women’s Wing.
It is an even greater honor to be spared some time to share more about the cause with them. From this conversation, an understanding is forged on the lack of awareness & care. With this, a correspondence of support is garnered in reaching out to more people.
Hence the confirmation of having Ms. Carrie Tan as our guest of honor & speaker in this year’s SG EndoMarch Talk. The Women’s Executive Committee of Nee Soon South grassroots will organize an Endometriosis awareness talk to show their support. On top of that, a virtual meeting with the Outreach Division of the Health Promotion Board took place last month, with more public outreach strategies discussed.
With the Deputy Director, Assistant Director & Manager from the Health Screening and Management, Outreach Division of Health Promotion Board.
I greatly appreciate the length that these amazing people have gone through to assist me in my advocacy journey. Thank you!
Being an advocate is never easy, so it warms my heart to receive support and encouragement from them. I mentioned to Madam Rahayu & Ms. Carrie that advocating Endometriosis is not just a fight for awareness but also a fight to break social prejudices. So, while awareness is much needed, it is a rocky and daunting ride.
I know, there is a lot that needs to be done, and I am far from reaching the standard of care and support many of us hope for. But I am trying, guys. I have been the past decade, and I will continue doing so to the best of my abilities.
I could not emphasize enough the importance of creating awareness. The importance of owning your story and sharing it. The importance of vocalizing pain and seeking treatment. There is no effort too little. So, imagine how much more we can accomplish if many of us decide enough is enough and start creating awareness as well.
With this said, a gentle reminder that the SG EndoMarch Talk registration commences this Saturday, 19th February 2022. Stay tuned to https://www.endosupport.sg/upcoming-events for more information!
Your pain is valid.
So, end the silence, create awareness & share the cause. 🎗🙌🏻
